We're a group of four university students, Bárbara, Francisca, Márcia and Mariana. For our subject, Matrizes Culturais Inglesas nos Media, we chose to talk about an important issue which affected all four of us: the representation of women in the different mediums. We will be talking about Literature, TV & Advertisement, Cinema and Music.

My name is Mariana Cunha, I am 19 years old. I study Foreign Languages and Cultures at Escola Superior de Educação in Porto. I am originally from Aveiro, where I studied Languages and Humanities in high school. Currently, I enjoy doing volunteer work because I like the connection with people. I consider myself an ambitious and reliable person. I’m strong-minded and persistent. I’m very interested and love to learn new things about subjects like languages and different cultures through books, articles and tv shows, since I think that is a wonderful way to stay up to date with current issues.

My name is Francisca Santos and I am 19 years old. I’m from Porto and I’m currently studying Foreign Languages and Cultures at Escola Superior de Educação do Porto. In highschool I studied Languages and Humanities and after that, I went to Lusófona do Porto where I studied Communications and then changed to Performing arts, from where I eventually dropped out. My interests include photography, cinema and music.
My name is Bárbara Pereira, I am 18 years old. I live in Póvoa de Varzim. I am a dreamer, a curious person because I love to know new things from history to fairy tales. I am a perfectionist because when I talk about work, it must be perfect. However, sometimes, things don’t go the way I want. Now I am a university student at ESE in Porto. I’m currently studying Foreign Languages and Cultures. I chose this course because I love to interact with people and learning about different cultures and languages. My experience in high school was phenomenal. I learned a lot as a student and as a person. I had the opportunity to do volunteering where I matured and I was able to share my knowledge and learn new things.

My name is Márcia Ferreira. I am 18 years old. I study Foreign Languages and Cultures at Escola Superior de Educação in Porto. I started my education in Portugal, but then I moved to Angola where I lived and finished my primary education. I studied Arts in high school and ended up with an expertise in Goldsmith and Jewellery Design. I have many interests and all of them are different, and that is why I decided to pursue this course. My personal experience taught me to view the world in a different perspective and I hope that one day this perspective will make a difference.
